IN ENGLISH

Almost everyone has experienced a time when they went into work while they were unwell. Most of the focus on working while sick, also known as presenteeism, has been on loss of productivity and high costs for employers. But, what if presenteeism can have some positive aspects that are overlooked?

This webinar will answer this question, in addition to:

  • Addressing the different types of presenteeism;
  • Identifying the positive, often overlooked, effects of presenteeism;
  • Presenting the different factors influencing the type of presenteeism an employee will adopt;
  • Presenting avenues of action for employers in order to optimize the management of presence at work.

Maria Karanika-Murray is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom, where she has been teaching since 2009. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from the University of Notthingham. Her areas of interests include: the determinants of health and well-being in the workplace, occupational health management, and presenteeism, which is the subject of one of her recent publications: “The health-performance framework of presenteeism: Towards understanding an adaptive behaviour”. This webinar will focus on the results and conclusions of this research, in addition to presenting some avenues of actions for employers.
